Registration forms for CNIB's summer camps for children & youth are now available

This summer Blind Beginnings will be coordinating three camps for children and youth who are blind or visually impaired:

Braille Literacy Camp:  July 4 – 10

For children between the ages of 8 and 12 who are Braille users, or will be Braille users. Through a wide variety of fun activities, children practice and enhance their Braille literacy skills. This camp program provides participants with a wonderful integration of recreation activities, life skills instruction, and the exploration of a variety of assistive technology.

Teen Technology/Transition Camp:  July 13 – 19

For youth from 13 to 19 years of age. Youth will have an opportunity to build on their computer and assistive technology skills and preparing for the transition to adulthood. Participants will increase independence and self-confidence through education and recreation.

Creative & Performing Arts Camp:  July 28 – August 3

This is a NEW camp for children between the ages of 8 and 14 who are interested in exploring the creative and performing arts. Children will receive instruction in drama, music, creative writing, poetry, and more. The camp program provides participants with a combination of recreation activities, life skills instruction and the exploration of a variety of creative and performing arts. Priority will be given to children who are not eligible for the Braille Literacy Camp.

 

The cost for participation in each camp is $210; this cost covers accommodation, meals, transportation, recreation, and programming. CNIB will also do their best to cover the cost of transportation for children and youth who live outside of Metro Vancouver.
