|Our popular Youth Leader Training Weekend is back! This program is offered to youth who are blind or partially-sighted between 13 and 19 years of age, from across BC. The program is intended for youth to develop transferable employment skills including; public speaking, communication, mentoring, active listening and empathy, organization and time management, team building and leadership. Once trained, Youth Leaders will be expected to participate in Blind Beginnings’ Youth Leadership program for the full year, as well as to volunteer in several capacities including;
- Being a mentor and resource to younger children who are blind or parents raising a blind child
- Providing awareness presentations in their communities
- Assisting in the planning of fundraisers and special events
The objective of this program is to provide youth with transferable skills and volunteer experience that will assist them in their future employment pursuits.
