Our next Baby Beginnings Group will be meeting on Saturday March 14!
Our Baby Beginnings Program, in partnership with Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada BC, is a drop-in monthly group for babies (under age 2) and their caregivers.
This month we are excited to be adding a parent support component to the program.
What to expect:
In our resource room, babies and caregivers will sing songs, hear stories, and play with Early Childhood Intervention Vision Specialist Margret and other Blind Beginnings child-care staff and volunteers.
Parents who would like to take part in a parent support session are invited to our boardroom with Registered Clinical Counsellor Shawn to check in on how things are going, share frustrations and successes, and receive emotional support from a counsellor and other parents.
When: The 2nd Saturday of each month – next session March 14
Time: 10:30 AM – noon
Where: the Blind Beginnings office – 227 6th Street in New Westminster
Who: Babies who are blind or partially sighted under 2 years of age and their parents
Why: To introduce your baby to songs and stories, to connect with other parents also raising a baby with a vision impairment, and to receive support and ask questions of professionals who understand the impact of low vision.
If you are interested in registering for March’s group, please email Shawn Marsolais at: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Wednesday March 11. Please include your babies’ name and age, as well as names of parents who will be attending.
Note: If you wish to drop your child off in the resource room to be able to attend the parent support session in the boardroom, please let us know that in advance so we can do our best to line up enough childcare volunteers. Parents may need to take turns if we are unable to find enough volunteers.
