Community Discovery to ArtStarts

Blind Beginnings is pleased to announce our Community Discovery outing to ArtStarts for a hands-on “Create Your Own Planet” workshop.

What: Do you like art and crafts? Are you curious about the mysteries of the solar system? Join us for a make-your-own planet activity involving yarn and ribbon in a galaxy themed Maker Space. We will have an opportunity to touch the planets hanging from the ceiling to get a sense of its shape and size before creating our own alongside ArtStarts instructors. The planets created will also be part of an ArtStarts exhibition!

When: Saturday November 2, 2019

Time: 1:30-3:30pm

Where: 808 Richards St, Vancouver, BC V6B 3A7

*We will meet as a group at ArtStarts for 1:15pm and Carrie and/or Shawn will be there. If you would like to meet up with a group traveling on transit, please let us know*

Who: Children and youth who are blind or partially sighted and their families

Cost: None. There is a maximum number for this workshop, so please confirm your attendance by emailing no later than Monday Oct 28.

A special note from ArtStarts:

  • Mistakes don’t exist at ArtStarts! If you do something you don’t like, try it again or see if you can change what you made.
  • You cannot take anything home with you. ArtStarts are focused on the process not the product. It’s more about what you learn from making art than whether or not your end product is the most amazing thing ever.

Note: All participants who attend any Community Discovery outings must be members of Blind Beginnings. If you are not already a member, please visit to “Become a Member”, or renew your membership.
