Creating Connections Workshop on Friday May 29

Blind Beginnings youth from across BC are invited to our May Creating Connections Workshop!

On Friday May 29, we will be hosting a QuentinC Game Night, a free online gaming platform made for individuals who are blind or partially sighted. We have pre-picked 3 games including Uno, 99 and Connect 4! For a detailed description of each game follow this link: https://www.qcsalon.net/.  Some of you might be thinking, that’s a lot of games how is it going to work? Do not worry, we have a plan.

We will be asking youth to sign-up for a free online QuentinC account on your computer or device prior to the evening, and to rank the pre-picked games (Uno, 99 and Connect 4) from most to least favourite. Please include your ranking in your RSVP no later than Friday May 22. We will then sort through everyone’s choices and choose the games with the most votes for the evening. Depending on the number of youth that RSVP, we should be able to play more than one game at the same time using the break-out room feature on Zoom.

Are you hesitant about the tech side of things? Our older Youth Mentors, also our Tech Gurus, will be hosting a QuentinC training session on Monday, May 25 at 7:00pm to answer any questions you may have about this platform!

Come join us to test your gaming skills and to have a good time!

When: Friday May 29

Time: 7:00pm

Where: Join us from your home using Zoom Conferencing.

How this works for youth joining from smartphones or computers: The group will meet in a private online meeting room. When you RSVP to say that you plan to attend online, you will be sent instructions to join the Zoom meeting. You can use Zoom with your computer, or smart phone, and once connected you will be able to communicate with all the other youth participants.

Why: Because we know you are missing your friends and family, and Blind Beginnings is a fun place where you can connect with peers, and make new friends.

To register:
If you would like to register for this workshop, please send an email to Carrie at: carrie@blindbeginnings.ca, so we can send you the Zoom link. Please include:

  • Youth’s name, age and email address
  • If youth don’t have their own email address, please include parent’s email address so we can send reminders for the meeting and the link to join the meetings online

We’re looking forward to connecting with you for a fun evening on Friday May 29!
