The Blind Beginnings Growing Potential Gala 2022 took place on the evening of April 30th, 2022 at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver. It was such a thrilling event for us, given that it was the first time that we were able to gather as a community for over three years. We filled the Pavilion Ballroom with over 175 people and were treated to amazing food, wonderful musical performances, and incredibly moving speeches and presentations.
If you didn’t get a chance to attend this year, enjoy some of these highlights from the evening. A very big thank you to Joep Olthuis who volunteered his time to act as our event photographer and took these amazing pictures.
The evening raised over $60,000 and thanks to our attendees, gala sponsors, and donors, we surpassed what we had hoped for. The evening’s success would not have been possible without the generosity of everyone who contributed their time, energy, donations, and support to this incredibly important annual fundraising event.
The evening also saw an opportunity for us to recognize some very special community members. The Lori Sheppard Memorial Fund Bursary recipients this year were Kolby Zanier and Bryan Hu while the Kelsey Chen Community Contribution Award was presented to Clement Chou for his contributions to Blind Beginnings and the Community.
Thank you to our co-sponsor for the evening, Onni Group, as well as our other sponsors, PCI Developments, Acuitas Therapeutics, and Accessible Media Inc.
And while we are giving thanks, we can’t forget our unsung heroes, our volunteers. The night could not have been a success without every single one of them. They gave our team invaluable assistance and support during every stage of the Gala, from planning and organization to set-up and assisting during the Gala itself. We couldn’t have done it without them!
It was a wonderful night that we will always remember. We can’t wait until next year to do it all again!
