We are so excited to partner with Provincial Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired (PRCVI) and the BC Vision Teachers’ Association (BC VTA) to host a “Partners in Resiliency – Seeing Mental Health Differently” Community Day on May 13th. This will be a community-focused day of virtual workshops that address important topics connected to mental health and wellbeing for children and youth who are blind or partially sighted.
This event is open to the public and will be a virtual day of learning, networking, and reflection on a variety of different topics.
Registration is $20. All proceeds will go to the Lori Sheppard Memorial Fund. This fund was created in 2006 by Lori’s friends, family and community members to both commemorate her spirit and provide bursaries to individuals who are blind or partially sighted and possess great passion yet face significant barriers.
Sessions for the day include:
Session 1: The Journey from Grief to Acceptance is Bumpy
Session 2: Youth Panel
Session 3: When Life is Too Loud for our Kiddos: How to turn down the volume during a time of increasing overwhelm, uncertainty and fear
Session 4: Humour Is Power: Laugh With Me and We’ll Conquer The World with Wendy Edey, R.Psych
