RRSPs and RRIFs
You can make a gift by designating Blind Beginnings as the beneficiary of your Registered Retirement Saving Plan (RRSP) or Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) or by making a gift in your will equal to the proceeds from your RRSP and RRIF.
You may support Blind Beginnings with a gift of securities. By donating publicly traded securities, you eliminate the capital gains tax that you’d have to pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. You’ll also receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation.
Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, and employee stock options. You can give now, or as part of your estate and will planning.
Consult your financial advisor to decide which investments make the most financial and philanthropic impact.
When you irrevocably make Blind Beginnings the owner and beneficiary of your life insurance policy, the Canada Revenue Agency allows us to issue the donor tax receipts for the full value of any policy premiums you pay. When you make Blind Beginnings the beneficiary, but retain ownership of the policy, a tax receipt for the value of the death benefit will be issued to your estate.
You can purchase a charitable annuity that makes a contribution to Blind Beginnings, and in turn receive guaranteed payments for life. The amount of the payments depends on your age and the size of the contribution, but they may be higher than what you are receiving from your present investments, and the annuity arrangement is guaranteed.
