Our next Online Parent Group will take place on Thursday March 12 and we’ll be talking about advocacy. When your needs are different than most people’s, you are often in a position of having to ask for something extra. This can feel uncomfortable, emotional, or difficult until you work out a strategy that works for you. Join us on March 12 and share your strategy, or get some ideas of what’s working for other parents.
When: Thursday March 12, 2020
Time: 1:00 – 2:30 PM
Who: Parents of children who are blind or partially sighted living in BC
How: We use Zoom Conferencing to connect, and its really easy I promise. You will be sent a link to join the meeting, and you just have to click on the link and you will be placed in the online meeting room. You can connect from your computer, smart phone or tablet, or dial in from your phone if that is preferred.
Note: It is a long-distance number within Canada for those who choose to dial in by phone.
Shawn Marsolais, registered clinical counselor, will be online to facilitate the group, introduce parents to each other, share some information about the topic, answer questions, and offer support.
How do you register you ask?
Just send Shawn an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org and request the link to join the next meeting.
This online parent group meets the second Thursday of every month. Parents who are raising children who are blind or partially sighted are invited to ask questions, share successes, seek advice, and connect with other parents who are also raising a child with a visual impairment. The predetermined topic is designed to start the conversation, but there will also be plenty of time for parents to talk about whatever they need to.
If you have any questions about these groups, or any other Blind Beginnings program, please feel free to contact Shawn at 604-434-7243, or toll free 1-866-736-8620.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
