Back by popular demand, Blind Beginnings is hosting a Parent Appreciation Lunch where the children and youth will prepare lunch for their parents under the guidance of an Independent Living Specialist (ILS), while the parents get to chill out, drink tea, and play board games.

When: Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 11:30am-2:00pm.
Where: Bridgeview Community Centre (11475 126a St, Surrey, BC V3V 5G8). A 10-minute walk from the Scott Road Skytrain station. If you’re taking transit and would like someone to meet you at the station, please let us know. Free parking on-site.
Who: All Blind Beginnings families are welcome to join this lunch-making celebration.
Cost: Free for families with a current Blind Beginnings membership.

Following the success of last year’s “Mother’s Day Brunch”, we wanted to open the celebration up to all parents and guardians. We would like to recognize the important role parents and guardians play in their children’s lives by treating them to lunch prepared by their children. Theresa Whyte, certified Independent Living Specialist, and Registered Holistic Nutritionist, will be managing the meal-prep, and all children will be supervised by adult volunteers. This is a great opportunity for children and youth to develop valuable cooking skills from a certified professional.

Meanwhile, parents can sit back, relax, and if you’re feeling brave, challenge Shawn Marsolais to a game of Scrabble.

Please RSVP no later than June 17th with how many family members will be joining us. Please also notify us of any dietary restrictions or allergies to be aware of. Siblings are welcome and encouraged to participate in the cooking as well.
