Tandem Cycling Program Update

As the weather is getting nicer and more cyclists are hitting the streets, Blind Beginnings would like to update our members on the status of the Buddy-Up Tandem Cycling Club. Effective May 2019, the Tandem Cycling Program has been taken over by the BC Blind Sports & Recreation Association.

When the Buddy-Up Tandem Cycling Club started last Spring, BC Blind Sports was a partner of the program through the loaning of their bikes with the intention to transition the program over to BC Blind Sports to maintain it on a long-term basis. All Blind Beginnings members are still eligible to participate in the program, with the condition that they must be members of BC Blind Sports ($15 annual membership). If you are interested in participating as a stoker or volunteering as a pilot for this program, be in touch with Susan Flanagan at susan@bcblindsports.bc.ca. The season’s kick-off ride is scheduled for Sunday, June 16th, departing from 4554 Union Street in Burnaby.

We wish this program every success in the capable hands of BC Blind Sports. Happy riding!

Thank you to the many volunteers who contributed their time, enthusiasm and pedal-power into getting our youth out on two wheels! A big thank you also to MEC Outdoor Nation for the grant which allowed our youth to turn this program dream into a reality.
