Blind Beginnings warmly invites youth who are blind or partially sighted, specifically those in grades 10 through 12, to participate in our engaging “What Happens After Grad” Workshop! This online workshop is designed to provide valuable insights and help prepare students for the exciting transition from high school to their future endeavors, whether that is post secondary or the job market.

When: Tuesday afternoons: May 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2025.
Time: 4:30 – 6:00 pm
Topics will include:
Career Exploration - Limitless employment possibilities
How to choose the best post-secondary program for you
The pros and cons of moving out and how to decide where to live after graduation
Importance of Networking - cold calling and information interviews
Why you should volunteer and how to find volunteer opportunities related to your job/career interests
Preparing for job and academic Interviews - How and when to disclose a disability
Accommodations for school or work - Assistive Technology and Funding
The workshop will be facilitated by Shawn Marsolais and Ishita Bhatia, and will include guest speakers with varied knowledge and experience. Shawn is a registered clinical counsellor, and both Shawn and Ishita grew up with a visual impairment. Between them they have first-hand experience of the challenges related to attending post-secondary, finding and retaining employment, and moving out of the family home.
