3B Printing Services
Custom, Low-Cost Braille Signage Created by Blind and Low Vision Youth
3B Printing Services is a youth-led initiative where blind and low vision youth design and produce custom tactile products for the community.
Making your personal environment accessible shouldn’t be complicated or expensive. Whether you are a parent wanting to add a braille nameplate to your child’s bedroom door, an individual looking for tactile markers for your home, or a local business wanting to create a more welcoming space, we offer solutions that actually make sense. Because we believe inclusivity should be an easy choice, our custom braille signage is highly affordable.
The Team Behind 3B Printing Services
This initiative is a direct extension of our long-running Youth Leadership and Pre-Employment program. At its core, it is about building confidence, leadership, and real-world employment skills in a supportive, creative environment.
What often surprises people is just how much of the process the youth handle themselves. They aren't just pushing a button on a printer. Participants develop serious technical and entrepreneurial skills, learning 3D modeling software, digital design tools, and braille embossing technology. They actively manage production workflows, quality control, pricing, marketing, and customer service.
Along the way, they build creative problem-solving skills and adaptability as they navigate real-world challenges from concept to customer. Through this hands-on experience, they actively challenge outdated assumptions about blindness and entrepreneurship.
A CYCLE OF SUPPORT
When you buy a custom sign, you are doing more than just updating a door or a room. Every product sold directly supports our Youth Leadership & Pre-Employment programming.
This creates a powerful cycle where youth gain technical expertise, leadership capacity, and pre-employment skills, while also getting the opportunity to reinvest in their own futures.
WHY BRAILLE MATTERS
Adding braille to a space changes how people experience it. It tells people they belong. But don't just take our word for it. Here is what braille signage means to the youth creating them:
“Braille signs are so vital each day. It helps me feel equal to people who read print, as I can have equal access to whatever print users have, but in braille. It allows me to learn the same things as the print signs say, and it is also a part of my identity of being blind. I feel that braille is a superpower, as I can read in the dark. It helps me with many hobbies, and without braille, my life wouldn't be the same. Braille signs are so life-changing, and when I see a braille sign, I feel happy. I feel included, just like people who can see.”
— Alethea“At times, it can be challenging to find a specific room or area in an unfamiliar environment without visual cues. Having a braille sign, I feel, would serve as a sort of marker that reminds you where specifically you are. In addition to this, seeing braille signage spreads awareness for the blind and visually impaired community. Every time I go out and see a braille sign, I also see it as a statement that this business has taken into consideration the needs of people with additional accessibility requirements, which can be very powerful.”
