There is something really special about getting the community together to share a great story, and we've got three of them!
To celebrate National AccessAbility Week this year, we are turning the Blind Beginnings office into our very own movie theatre. We're hosting a documentary screening night, and every single ticket sold will go directly toward funding this summer's Camp Limitless.
We have put together a lineup of three short documentaries that highlight the real, lived experiences and accomplishments of our community over the years.
Through My Eyes (25 mins): This film follows Shawn's personal journey after learning she was losing her sight at age 12. It’s an honest look at moving from grief to acceptance, and how it eventually led to founding Blind Beginnings.
Do The Grind Blind (50 mins): If you've ever tackled the Grouse Grind, you know exactly how grueling it is. In this documentary, AMI’s Grant Hardy joins a group of blind and low vision youth as they push their physical limits to conquer Vancouver’s most infamous hike.
Limitless Beauty (23 mins): Step behind the scenes of our very own Limitless Beauty fashion show. This episode from AMI's Our Community follows nine of our youth through their training camp as they prepare to take on the runway during Vancouver Fashion Week.
It wouldn't be a movie night without the snacks. Your $20 ticket automatically includes a bag of popcorn and a soft drink.
We will be wrapping up the night with a live Q&A session where you can ask questions and hear directly from some of the people featured in the films.
Please note, only 50 tickets are available and tickets will not be sold at the door, so get your tickets below:
